A new HIMSS research reveals that nearly a third of hospitals and health systems plan to implement biometrics, digital forensics, or penetration testing within the next two years. However, 43% of organizations cite funding as a challenge. Healthcare IT News interviewed cybersecurity expert Manoj Srivastava on technological advances in healthcare cybersecurity, including password-less authentication, secure access service edge (SASE), and zero trust. Additionally, Srivastava highlighted the importance of homomorphic encryption, blockchain, and IoT security in the healthcare industry. He also discussed the persistence of ransomware attacks and the need for organizations to prioritize data backups, security training, and patch management. Finally, Srivastava emphasized the importance of prioritizing IoT security as the field continues to expand in healthcare.
