Daily Malicious Files Soar 3% in 2023, Kaspersky Finds

Kaspersky’s Security Bulletin reported a 3% rise in malicious cyber files in 2023, averaging 411,000 per day. Trojans were the most common type of malware, with a significant increase in backdoor use. The primary target was Microsoft Windows, accounting for 88% of all malware attacks. Cybercriminals exploited Microsoft Office services’ vulnerabilities, representing over 69% of all such issues. LockBit was identified as the most prolific ransomware group.
