Deadly mosquito virus puts Mass. towns on high alert

Massachusetts state officials have raised the risk level in 10 communities due to a heightened risk of the Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) virus, carried by infected mosquitoes. They are urging residents to take precautions, including wearing long clothing and insect repellant. Parts of Plymouth and Worcester counties will receive mosquito spray treatments. This is the state’s first EEE outbreak in four years.
