DHS cyber boss talks China threats, fed’s AI plan and CISO outreach

China, with its economic ties to the U.S. and ability to disrupt critical infrastructure, is the top cybersecurity existential threat to the U.S., says Iranga Kahangama, assistant secretary for Cyber, Infrastructure, Risk, and Resilience at DHS. Kahangama also highlighted the role of AI in bolstering cybersecurity, provided safeguards are established. The official called for cybersecurity industry participation to help refine national strategy and policy, and for public-private partnerships to secure private sector cyber infrastructure.
