Serious security flaws have been discovered in medical devices made by Philips, GE, and Silex that could allow hackers to gain unauthorized access and elevated privileges. The flaws include issues with kiosk environments, hard-coded credentials, and lack of verification for authentication. Philips has remediated some of the flaws and is warning users to implement comprehensive security strategies. Silex and GE have released firmware updates to address the vulnerabilities. Medical device recalls have increased, prompting the FDA and Congress to take action to improve device security.
