Digital Gangsters, Disinformation and Dark Adverts: The UK Parliament DCMS Report

A report published by the UK’s DCMS (Digital, Culture, Media and Sport) Committee, following an 18-month investigation into the misuse of data on social media platforms, stated that the impact of online disinformation and the malicious targeting of adverts to individuals could pose a risk to democracy. The Committee’s report was informed by the discovery by UpGuard, a security research firm, of the Cambridge Analytica files.
