A recent cybersecurity report reveals that 89% of healthcare organizations surveyed experienced an average of 43 cyber attacks within the past year. The attacks are delaying procedures and tests, leading to poor patient outcomes and increased complications in medical procedures. Shockingly, 20% of health systems experiencing common cyber attacks reported increased patient mortality rates. Ransomware is the most common and damaging attack type. The report also emphasizes concerns regarding IoT device security, lack of cybersecurity expertise, and insufficient staffing. The most expensive healthcare cyber attack cost an average of $4.4 million in the past year.
