DirectTrust makes new secure IM standard available for testing

Mike Miliard August 3, 2020

DirectTrust has released a draft of its Trusted Instant Messaging+ (TIM+) standard for testing. The standard aims to enable real-time secure messaging in healthcare by incorporating trust network concepts. TIM+ allows users to communicate within their existing workflows and across different platforms using a common standard. Features include endpoint detection, text-based communication, file transfers, and potentially audio and video communication in future releases. DirectTrust will also host a Connectathon in November to gather feedback on the draft and test reference implementations.
