Doctors ask health board to declare major incident

siteadmin December 30, 2022

A&E doctors at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Greater Glasgow and Clyde have asked NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to declare a major incident due to “grave concerns” over patient safety. The A&E department is overwhelmed, but NHS GGC declined the request for additional resources. Meanwhile, due to “extreme pressure,” NHS Borders and NHS Grampian requested staff on leave to return to work. Infections like Covid, flu, and norovirus are putting significant strain on Scotland’s healthcare systems.
