DOJ and FTC Sue TikTok for Violating Children’s Privacy Laws

The US Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission have filed a lawsuit against TikTok for allegedly violating children’s privacy laws. The company is accused of knowingly allowing children to create accounts, view and share content, and of illegally collecting and retaining children’s personal information without parental consent. The lawsuit also claims that TikTok did not adequately prevent children from bypassing age restrictions during account creation. TikTok disputed the allegations.
