The Maryland Joint Insurance Association (JIA), which offers state-mandated property insurance, has accidentally exposed highly sensitive personal data for thousands of people online, due to a misconfigured storage device. The data included customer and claimant files, names, addresses, phone numbers, full social security numbers, financial information and internal access credentials. The incident again highlights the dangers of third-party vendors sharing information with business partners.
