Dramatic Surge in Social Engineering and Web Attacks

Cyber-threat risks rose significantly in Q2 2023, with over 700 million unique attacks blocked monthly. Risks included social engineering, web-related threats such as scams, phishing, adware, and Trojans. Desktop attacks remain the greatest concern, especially scams, which accounted for 51% of all attacks. Meanwhile, mobile threats saw dropper malware rise by 86%. The most prevalent ransomware attacks occurred in Mozambique, Papua New Guinea, Afghanistan, Angola, Ghana, and Korea. Despite the increase, information stealer malware dropped by 14%.
