Duckmanton planning decision was disgraceful display of bureaucracy at its worst

A proposal to build 200 new homes in a village has drawn fierce opposition from residents over concerns of exacerbating existing issues such as traffic congestion, periodic flooding, and inadequate health care and education facilities. Residents were dismayed when their objections were dismissed by the planning committee, which concluded that such issues fell outside their remit. Despite resistance, the majority of councillors voted in favour of the development plan.
