East Lancashire Hospitals staff dismissed over breaches of Data Protection Act

The UK’s East Lancashire Hospitals Trust saw 204 staff data breaches resulting in two dismissals between April 2011 and 2014, according to a report by privacy campaign group, Big Brother Watch. A total of 7,255 breaches were recorded across the country over the same period. Burnley Liberal Democrat MP Gordon Birtwistle said “if staff are caught snooping, they should be out of the door”.
