EHR snooping at Montefiore leads to security breach

Montefiore Medical Center has notified patients of a security breach involving unauthorized access to their protected health information by a former employee. The breach occurred between June and November 2020, during which the employee accessed patient names, addresses, dates of birth, medical record numbers, and the last four digits of Social Security numbers. Montefiore is offering identity theft protection services to affected patients and is implementing additional safeguards to strengthen system security.
