Elevance to acquire Indiana University Health’s insurance business

Elevance Health is set to acquire Indiana University Health’s insurance business, which provides Medicare Advantage plans to 19,000 members and commercial plans to 12,000 members. After the deal closes by year-end, IU Health Plans will operate as a subsidiary of Elevance’s Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The purchase follows Elevance’s acquisition of Paragon Health and is part of its strategy to recapture some Medicaid members lost to redetermination.
