Energy Department looks to build cyber threat detection platform for electric grid

The US Energy Department is developing a nationwide platform to detect cyber threats. The department’s Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity Initiative is intended to improve communication between government and industry and enable utilities to manage system operations and handle threats effectively. The launch was attended by delegates from 150 utilities companies, with over 50% of these signed up to Dragos’ Neighborhood Keeper information-sharing network. Participation in this free voluntary service is intended to help infrastructure providers detect and respond to threats more effectively.
