Enterprise Imaging Helps Decrease the Cognitive Burden, Says Rob Bart, MD, CMIO, UPMC

Dr. Rob Bart, Chief Medical Information Officer at UPMC, discussed the challenges and strategy of moving towards an enterprise imaging environment in an interview with healthsystemCIO. Bart explained that UPMC is consolidating various PACS and moving those images to a Vendor Neutral Archive (VNA) to make them readily available for patient care. He acknowledged that the main difficulty is facilitating change and gaining clinician buy-in.
