Epic continues campaign for changes to forthcoming ONC info blocking rules

Healthcare software company Epic has raised concerns about patient privacy in the forthcoming ONC rules around interoperability and patient access. Epic supports the goals of the rules but believes that new protections are required to prevent patient data from being shared without their consent or resold by healthcare apps. The company’s CEO, Judy Faulkner, has expressed the potential negative consequences of the rules and indicated that Epic may sue HHS if the final rules do not address their privacy concerns. Other healthcare stakeholders have also called for changes to the proposed rules.
