Exclusive: Australian energy & internet provider Sumo confirms customer data breach

Sumo Energy has confirmed an extensive data breach where unknown hackers accessed customer information via a third-party storage application. The compromised data includes names, addresses, phone numbers, credit scores, and passport, Medicare or driving license details. The data theft was discovered on an online hacking forum and was originally stored in Amazon web buckets. The company has engaged identity protection firm IDCARE to support victims of the breach and is offering a complimentary Equifax credit and personal information monitoring subscription.
