FBI, HHS warn of ‘increased and imminent’ cyber threat to hospitals

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, the FBI, and the US Department of Health and Human Services warn that cybercriminals are increasingly targeting healthcare providers and public health agencies amid the COVID-19 pandemic. They specifically highlight the use of Trickbot malware and the deployment of Ryuk ransomware. The agencies advise healthcare organizations to take precautions to protect their networks and systems from these threats. Ransomware attacks on the healthcare system pose a significant danger, and the impact could be severe as hospitals are already overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients.
