The Butler County Health Care Center in Nebraska avoided a malware attack in July with the help of the FBI. The attack targeted several grain co-ops in addition to the hospital. The compromised server was found and taken offline with the assistance of the FBI. No patient information was compromised, but the potential impact on patient care was acknowledged. Ransomware attacks on healthcare organizations have been on the rise, and phishing emails are a common cause. The FBI has a significant presence in fighting cyberattacks and can respond quickly to incidents.
