FDA approves Apple AirPod's hearing aid capability

Apple’s new AirPods Pros will double as over-the-counter hearing aids, following FDA approval. The software-only mobile application will allow users to self-adjust the hearing aid to their own needs. Since October 2022, FDA regulations permit purchase of hearing aid products without a medical exam or audiologist visit. The AirPods Pro 2 will offer a “clinical grade” hearing test and a hearing aid feature.
