Federal board investigating Microsoft email hacks by Chinese group

The Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cyber Safety Review Board (CSRB) is to review the recent hacking of Microsoft email users, with a focus on improving identity and authentication management in the cloud. The review comes in response to reports that Chinese hackers used a private encryption key to access email accounts of high-profile U.S. officials and organizations, including the Secretary of Commerce. The CSRB aims to develop actionable recommendations to advance cloud cybersecurity practices.
