Florida Dept. of Health data in the hands of a cybercrime group

Hackers have gained access to some of Florida’s sensitive state records, including vital statistics information used to issue birth and death certificates. The cybercriminals are threatening to release 100GB of data unless a ransom is paid. The reliability of the government in protecting personal information has been called into question, and individuals are being urged to be cautious about sharing their personal details. Over the last three years, state agency hacks have exposed the data of over 10 million Floridians.
