For-profit health systems see Medicaid supplemental payment bump in Q2

The majority of leading US for-profit hospital systems, including Tenet Healthcare, HCA Healthcare and Universal Health Services, have posted profits for the second quarter, citing increased demand and higher patient volumes. This was also partially due to an increase in supplemental payments from state Medicaid programs. However, despite the increase in profits, hospital system executives have argued that funding has still fallen short of their operational costs.
