Formbook Takes the Throne as Most Prevalent Malware

Check Point’s Global Threat Index for September 2023 reveals significant changes in the cyber threat landscape. The education and research sector remains the top target, with phishing campaigns and the Remcos Remote Access Trojan being highly active, particularly in Colombia. Formbook has become the most prevalent malware, following the disruption of Qbot by the FBI. Qbot’s creators are, however, disseminating a new malware called Ransom Knight. On the mobile front, Anubis remains the most prevalent malware, followed by AhMyth and SpinOk.
