Fortinet confirms data breach, extortion demand

Cybersecurity company Fortinet confirmed it was subject to a data breach, though it didn’t disclose what type of data was accessed. The firm said an unknown entity gained unauthorized access to a limited number of files on a third-party cloud-based shared file drive. The company has notified affected customers and law enforcement, but believes the incident did not affect operations, corporate networks or any customers.
