Gang leaks NHS patient data on the dark web
The Russian gang, Qilin, launched a ransomware attack on Synnovis, impacting six London boroughs’ hospitals and resulting in the cancellation of hundreds of medical appointments. Almost 400GB of stolen data, including patients’ personal details and results of blood tests, was reportedly published online. Synnovis is presently analysing the data in association with the NHS and the National Cyber Security Centre. Qilin demanded a £50m ransom from Synnovis.
