Geisinger gets USDA rural development grant for inpatient virtual nursing

The Geisinger health system, based in Pennsylvania, has received a $948,741 grant from the USDA for its virtual inpatient nursing program. The initiative empowers nurses to offer 24/7 remote support, also helping bedside nurses to focus on hands-on patient care. The grant will be used to outfit Geisinger Medical Center and Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital with new telehealth technologies.
