“Getting cybersecurity wrong puts patients at risk”

The WannaCry cyberattack in May 2017, which infected 200,000 computers in over 100 countries, brought a third of NHS trusts and 595 GP practices in England to a standstill. The attack resulted in a financial loss of £92m, and forced a change in IT services, with the NHS now working to harden their systems against similar attacks.
