Getting Out in Front of Post-Quantum Threats with Crypto Agility

Quantum computing advancements can transform various applications but also pose major threats to digital encryption. However, readiness for these challenges is lacking among organizations, with only 23% having a security strategy and 30% allocating a budget for post-quantum readiness. To prepare, organizations should focus on crypto-agility, involving updating inventory of cryptographic assets, automating processes for efficiency, and conducting interoperability tests. The National Institute of Standards and Technology is working on standardizing four post-quantum-resistant algorithms, with three expected to be ready by 2024.
