Google ads for KeePass, Notepad++ lead to malware

Malware peddlers are using search engine ads for the KeePass password manager and the Notepad++ text editor to deceive Google users into downloading malware. They use evasion techniques that bypass ad checks and make the malicious ads and the sites they lead to appear legitimate. The issue, known as malvertising, is increasingly sophisticated and is an ongoing threat.
