Google and DeepMind face legal claim for unauthorised use of NHS medical records
Google is facing a class-action lawsuit for allegedly using confidential medical records of 1.6 million NHS patients without their consent. The lawsuit is related to an arrangement made in 2015 between Google subsidiary DeepMind and the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The UK’s ICO ruled that the Royal Free had not complied with data protection requirements. This comes amid growing concerns regarding the misuse of health data by tech giants.
