Google bulks up Android’s malware defenses to combat new tricks, including AI

Google is upgrading its Android Play Protect malware protection system to better detect malicious apps, following the proliferation of “polymorphic malware.” The tech giant will now recommend real-time app scans when installing unscanned apps, and Google will notify users on the safety of the app after assessment. The update has started rolling out in select countries starting with India, and will be expanded globally.
