Google Play Store Saw Over 600 Million Malware, Malicious App Downloads in 2023: Kaspersky

Despite Google’s robust security measures for its Play Store, Kaspersky claims Android users downloaded malicious apps over 600 million times in 2023. These apps, bypassing security checks, include data-harvesting mini-game ads, Minecraft clone games ridden with hidden ads, and spyware apps. Notable malware named SpinOk infected over 100 apps. The firm also uncovered apps infected with the Fleckpe subscription Trojan that illegally subscribed users to paid services.
