Google has announced its plans to acquire cybersecurity firm Mandiant in a cash deal worth $5.4 billion. Upon completion of the acquisition, Mandiant will join Google Cloud, strengthening the company’s existing security tools portfolio. The move aims to provide an end-to-end security operations suite and help secure the cloud while accelerating the adoption of cloud computing. Mandiant’s offerings include advisory services, threat detection, automation and response tools, and managed defense. The deal is expected to close later this year, pending approval from Mandiant stockholders and regulators.
