Government responds on cyber security and data

The UK government has announced it will increase investment in data and cyber security to above £50m, including a new £21m fund for major trauma centres. The decision follows the government’s acceptance of recommendations in the National Data Guardian review and the Care Quality Commission review. The National Data Guardian’s position will be put on a statutory footing and will see stronger sanctions introduced by May 2018 to protect anonymised data.
