Government sends out ‘stay at home’ text messages as coronavirus lockdown begins

The UK government is texting people across the UK urging them to stay at home and providing information on new coronavirus restrictions. The alert reads: “GOV.UK alert coronavirus. New rules in force now: you must stay at home. More info and exemptions at gov.uk/coronavirus Stay at home. Protect the NHS. Save lives.” As they do not have an emergency alert system, text delivery times may vary.
