Government under pressure after NHS crippled in global cyber attack as weekend of chaos looms

A computer virus known as ransomware hit 48 UK National Health Service (NHS) Trusts, blocking access to medical notes and diverting emergency cases. In a note, the virus stated “nobody can recover your files without our decryption service”, demanding a payment of $300. An NHS spokesman stated that, thus far, no evidence has been found to suggest that patient data has been accessed.
