GP fears patients will suffer harm after NHS cyber attack

A ransomware attack on the UK’s National Health Service could cause lasting harm to patients, according to Dr James Taylor of the South Street Medical Centre in Greenwich, south-east London. Trusts including King’s College, Great Ormond Street and Guy’s and St Thomas were affected by the attack. Hundreds of operations have been cancelled and blood tests are still being deferred. Taylor’s surgery alone requested around 125 blood tests a week, or almost 1,000 results. Taylor predicts widespread disruption until at least the end of June.
