Healthcare data breaches have become a serious concern, with almost half of respondents in a WatchGuard Technologies and Gartner survey experiencing one in the last two years. Cybersecurity threats increase as patient data is in constant transit due to technological advancements. Ransomware attacks increased by 94% from 2021 to 2022, which experts attribute to attackers exploiting the urgency of healthcare. The top threats include outdated tech, talent gaps and poor security. Only 24% have multi-factor authentication policies, and just over half encrypt patient data. This industry’s vulnerability highlights the importance of increasing security awareness and measures.
