Hacked UK Trove of Medical Records Includes Data on Newborns, Cancer Patients

Hackers claiming to be the Qilin group recently posted personal data of tens of thousands of patients from over 400 UK and Irish hospitals online after an attack on lab-services provider Synnovis that severely impacted the country’s blood-testing and transfusion services. The hackers demanded a $50m ransom from Synnovis, which they failed to deliver. The incident is currently being criminally investigated by the UK’s National Crime Agency.
