Hackers target Guy’s and St Thomas’ and Kings College Hospital as health service declares ‘critical incident’

A cyber attack has impacted London hospitals, resulting in the National Health Service declaring a ‘critical incident’. Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospital Trusts were badly affected, being forced to cancel operations and blood transfusions and redirect patients to other institutions. The focus of the attack was Synnovis IT system, used by NHS pathology labs. GP surgeries in six London boroughs were also hit.The NHS is working with the National Cyber Security Centre and other authorities to understand the incident fully.
