Hacking and IT incidents causing bigger breaches in healthcare

The number of healthcare breaches has decreased, but the number of individuals affected by breaches has increased significantly in 2018, according to a report by Bitglass. Hacking and IT incidents were responsible for the majority of breaches, impacting 67% of individuals affected in healthcare breaches. The cost per record for a healthcare breach also increased by 7.4% in 2018. Healthcare organizations need to prioritize cybersecurity best practices to secure patient data, according to Rich Campagna, CMO of Bitglass.
