HCA reassures breach victims as watchdog identifies the brazen hacker as an attempting seller

HCA Healthcare, a Nashville-based operator with presence in 21 states, has investigated information potentially stolen by a hacker. The personal details of patients may have been offered for sale on the deep web. The healthcare provider believes up to 11m patients might have been affected; however, information concerning diagnosis, treatment and payment details have been deemed safe. HCA has restricted user access to its email server and intends to help patients affected.
