Health board staff shared patient data on WhatsApp

A report has criticised NHS Lanarkshire for having unsecured clinical groups on WhatsApp, where personal information could be leaked. The report also raised concern that data shared through this channel may not be added to a patient’s medical file. The Health Board did not find any discrepancies in the medical records of involved patients and no fine was given, but recommendations were made to establish more secure ways of storing medical images and videos.
