Health care vendor’s data breach impacts some CHI Health patients

WellTok, a vendor for CHI Health, announced a data breach, affecting thousands across 35 healthcare systems in the US, including an Omaha family, the Reims. The “unknown actor” who breached the server exploited a vulnerability, stealing patient data but not social security information. Despite the breach, CHI Health stated it was not directly breached. The incident led to calls for stronger protections against cyberattacks and misuse of stolen health information.
