Two data breaches in Pennsylvania and Wyoming have exposed hundreds of thousands of patient records. In Wyoming, COVID-19, influenza, and blood alcohol test results for over 164,000 individuals were accidentally uploaded to a public-facing website. In Pennsylvania, a breach compromised the information of about 72,000 residents involved in the state’s COVID-19 contact-tracing program. The breaches were due to employee behavior, and investigations are ongoing. The health departments are taking steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.
