Health Tech Series: HealthTech and AI – the current legal landscape

Rishi Sunak, the UK Prime Minister, called for increased innovation in public services and the NHS, especially in artificial intelligence (AI). The UK government plans for further funding to advance AI across the NHS, while acknowledging the need for risk management. The HealthTech industry will have to adhere to regulations which do not yet specifically govern AI, but impact its applications. Future regulations will likely focus on safety, transparency, fairness, accountability and governance of AI.
